The central location and the metro on the doorstep make getting away straightforward — San Mamés station absorbs much of the crowd, and the walk back into the centre is easy and pleasant. Bilbao’s nightlife then takes over, and the pintxos bars of the Casco Viejo and the Ensanche stay lively well into the evening, so the post-match naturally flows back into the food and drink that defined the build-up.
